St Andrews, Dearnley

Date published: 23 May 2013

The social evening in church last Saturday night, 'St Andrew's Got Talent', raised the magnificent sum of almost £1,000 which will go to the Wider Welcome fund.

A big thank-you to all those brave people who performed, to all who helped on the night and last but not least to everyone who turned up to support one of the biggest events on our social calendar.

Our next major fund-raiser will be a Midsummer Concert on Saturday, June 15, starting at 3pm, outside if the weather is kind, in church if not.

Junior brass bands from several local schools will be in attendance on what will be a fun-filled, action-packed day with plenty to do and see.

Refreshments will be available and we are in need of volunteers please to work on the barbecue and to help with drinks and on the cake stall.

Wanted: Nearly New and Good as New children's clothing is required for St Andrew's school. Please bring them to church on Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday mornings or take them to the vicarage on Wednesday evenings between 6pm and 7pm.

Garden Fund: A huge thank-you to Frank for his work in the church grounds. Contributions to the cost of plants are always welcome.

Baptisms: It is now possible to book baptisms after Thursday family assemblies in St Andrew's school or during the vicar's additional 'vestry hour'.

Confirmation: this will be on Sunday, June 9 at 6.30pm. Speak to the vicar asap please if you are aged 12 or over and interested.

We are planning to run a parish trip to Coventry Cathedral on September 21. The approximate price will be £25, including entrance to the cathedral.

Anyone interested should add their name to the list in the parish room.
