Twilight market
Date published: 23 May 2013
A twilight market was held on The Esplanade on Thursday 18 May until 8.00pm with local businesses selling goods to the general public.
With a good footfall throughout the day, stall holders have commented on the general feel of the day.
Lawrence ‘Lol’ Richards from L.J Leisure said: “It was a decent event and it was nice to see something a bit different.” Lol whose company "caters for your every need" in terms of events hire added: “Feedback from people was positive.”
Ben Reed, Project co-ordinator for the Retail Ready People programme said: “It was a nice set up and looked good but we only made £25 so after our stall costs, there wasn’t much income.”
The retail ready people programme is a volunteering and skills development programme for young people 16-25 interested in retail and business. Ben added: “The more food related stalls seemed to make money but the craft stalls didn’t seem to make as much.”
Ben added: “For us, it was more about raising awareness of our business” he said.
Lol Richards added: “It was what we expected for a first time event.”
The market was organised by Rochdale Town Centre Management.
