Date published: 23 May 2013

Siddal Moor's handball teams competed in the Northern Schools Handball Finals which were held at Boteler High School, Warrington. 117 school teams entered in all with 59 of those coming from the North.

The girls team triumphed and were runners-up in their group and so qualify for National Finals on 29 June at Sporthouse, Mayesbrook Park, London which was the training venue for Handball at the Olympics. The boys team just missed out from qualifying, coming a very respectable 3rd in their group.

Promising young talent has been recognised by the England team coaches and some of the players may be asked to spend some training time with the England Team.

Sue Whitehead,  team coach said: "Both teams performed exceptionally well on the day and that the boys had just been unlucky not to get through."

Siddal Moor will be organising a coach to take the players and supporters down to London for the finals.
