Healey Primary School win Rochdale Schools Netball competition

Date published: 15 May 2013

A massive congratulations to Mrs Giverin and her netball team for winning the Rochdale Schools Netball last week. The girls are now going on to represent Rochdale in the Manchester Trophy on 7 July at Wright Robinson College in Gorton. Fingers crossed for a successful and glorious end to the 2012/13 season.

We were delighted to welcome the Mayor, Councillor Jim Gartside to our Achievement Assembly last week; it was a lovely relaxed visit and the children very much enjoyed showing off their skills to such an important visitor. Well done Sofia for prompting the visit before Councillor Gartside hands back his chain of office.

Next week is ATHLETICS WEEK, starting Monday. A timetable will be set but it is a good idea to make sure the children have their PE kit – with trainers and track suit for outdoor – in school every day. We have now been presented with two amazing cups from the 2013 Music Festival. The bell ringers were awarded The Trippier Trophy and the choral speakers The Rotary Cup. We are VERY proud of these achievements.

Next Tuesday afternoon 21 May is the Annual May Tea where we invite elderly residents to join us for afternoon tea and entertainment. Letters of invitation have been sent out, however if you know someone who would like to attend please contact school. The last day of this half term is Friday 23rd May and the PTA would like to hold a children’s bake sale. Staff hare planning the Great Healey Bake Off with their classes and all money raised will be going towards the PTA new playground slide.

Well done to the children who have completed all their testing this week, the papers have been sent away for marking.

School closes on 23 May for one week and returns on Monday 3 June for the final half term. Dinner money for the half term is £62.90.

The awards this week were presented to:

Reception Luke Ratcliffe
Year 1 Milly Eyre
Year 2 Talia Marshall
Year 3 Amy McHale
Year 4 Alica Quinlan
Year 5 Kendra Marshall
Year 6 Jasmin Hill-Metcalfe

Year 3 and a delighted Mrs Smith were presented with the 100% Attendance Cup. Mrs Smith was almost overcome with excitement. Overall school attendance was over 97%. Amazing!
