CEPA Learners from Years 10 and 11 will be attending a visit to Edinburgh this week as part of a special three day tour of the arts and cultural venues of Scotland's beautiful capital. The visit includes a tour of several key attractions as well as visits to the Museum of Illusions and Camera Obscura, the 'Real Mary King's Close', the 'Dynamic Earth' exhibit and a chance to see Mathew Bourne's contemporary ballet, 'A Highland Fling'. Learners should be returning from the visit with some great photos and some fantastic memories.

Well done to the 'K Cohort' of the Year 7 CALL curriculum who attended the visit to Leeds City Museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park this week. Approximately ninety learners attended the day long tour of the two venues and completed a range of learning tasks. Many thanks to all the students and staff who participated in such a successful day.

Congratulations to Haris Hussain in 7F4 for winning the competition for completing the best CALL Visit Work Booklet. Haris beat off competition with a detailed booklet and earned himself a limited edition 'Natural Beauty' wildlife print from Leeds City Museum's current exhibition.

Mr Mvula and Ms Murtagh took Drama learners in Year 9 to The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester this week to attend a special backstage tour and to see the current production of Ibsen's 'A Doll's House'. Learners spent the afternoon looking around the various departments of the theatre and gaining an insight into the Arts careers on offer in a commercial theatre. Well done to everyone involved!

Ms Kowalski, Mr Walker and other staff are off to Barcelona this week with many of our learners from across the years. The exciting week long trip takes in a range of different cultural sights and experiences and promises to be very stimulating.

Year 10 and 11 Drama students are completing their BTEC Scripted Performances this week and should be adding the final touches to their rehearsals ready for assessment. Classrooms are available at lunchtimes and after school to support the rehearsal process. For more details, contact Mr De Courcey.

Many thanks to staff from across Rochdale schools and to individuals representing Arts organisations who attended our first Arts Promotional Network (A.Pro.N) Meeting this week. A range of arts related issues were discussed and future meetings planned. For more details and for inclusion on the mailing list for future meetings, please contact Mr De Courcey.

Year 11 learners who have finished with test books and other revision aids following final exams should return their books to their teachers as soon as possible. Please ensure that you return all borrowed books back to school to support future years. We appreciate such diligence as it helps us to plan and save money for next year.

Donations of newspapers, plant pots and wallpaper are welcomed for a current CALL project. Please send them via learners to the CALL staff either in lessons or to the CEPA Office at breaktimes or lunchtimes.
