Bus changes for Man Utd parade

Date published: 13 May 2013

A victory parade marking Manchester United's 13th Premier League title and Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement at the age of 71, starts later at 6pm on the forecourt of the East Stand at Old Trafford stadium.

The parade will travel towards the city centre and reach Albert Square an hour-and-a-half later.

There will be changes to services as Manchester United players parade the Premier League trophy through the city on an open-top bus.

The changes, prompted by road closures for the event, will affect services 12 25 26 32 33 36 37 50 53 63 79 84 131 191 197 250 255 256 263 270 291 X34 X40 X41 X43 X50 X58 and all three city centre Metroshuttle routes.

The following road closures will be in place on the day:

  • Albert Square from 10am for the full day
  • Chester Road from 4pm inward and 5pm outward
  • Deansgate from 3pm to 10.30pm
  • Deansgate crossing points at Peter Street, Quay Street, Great Bridgewater Street and Liverpool Road will be closed between 7pm and 8pm
Please note that dependent on the level of turnout at the event – which is expected to be very high – the exact timing of road closures and service changes could be subject to change at short notice.

Metrolink services will not be affected but passengers are advised that demand for services may be a lot higher as people make their way to and from the parade.
