Volunteers needed to raise money for Diabetes UK

Date published: 08 May 2013

Diabetes UK is looking for enthusiastic volunteers in Rochdale to help co-ordinate a collection weekend at their local Tesco store.

The Big Collection weekend will take place in Tesco stores on 4, 5 and 6 October 2013 with the aim of raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for Diabetes UK, as part of a major national charity partnership between the two organisations. The partnership aims to make life better for those with the condition or at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes UK is recruiting 600 Team Leader Volunteers across the UK and is looking for Team Leaders in Rochdale to co-ordinate the Big Collection weekend locally.

Team Leader Volunteers will play a crucial role in organising the Big Collection and will work with Diabetes UK North West and their local Tesco store to prepare for the weekend, co-ordinate the collection operations over the three days and motivate a team of Collection Volunteers.

Helen Pattie, Diabetes UK Regional Manager for North West said: "The Big Collection weekend in Tesco stores is a great way to inform customers about diabetes while raising money for Diabetes UK. But it is only possible with the support of people who give up their time - they will be making a real difference to people with diabetes or those at risk of developing it."
