Residential activity week
Twenty one pupils from Years 4-7 travelled to Huddersfield to the Peak Venture Adventure Centre for their residential activity week.

They spent five days participating in a range of activities including climbing, abseiling, archery, circus and even snowman building!

The heavy snowfall throughout the week only added to the children’s experience and despite the plummeting temperatures all the pupils said that they had really enjoyed themselves.

We also included a trip to the Metrodome Waterpark in Barnsley.

Greater Manchester School Games The under 9’s gymnastics team represented Rochdale at the Greater Manchester School Games competition which was held at the National Cycling Centre. The pupils had to perform two floor routines and a vault. They performed extremely well and finished in third position.

Playground Challenge
An under 11’s team of playground leaders took part in the Playground Challenge at Wardle High School. They had to complete a series of written exercises relating to Health and Safety before demonstrating their game to other pupils. The team finished in second place.

Orienteering competition
The orienteering competition took place at a new venue this year, Cardinal Langley. Pupils had to negotiate around a challenging course finding twenty points. Beech House were placed third.

The school was visited recently by two Athlete Mentors from the Sky Sports for Living Initiative.

Charlotte Hartley and Sarah Stevenson addressed a senior assembly. They spoke about their life and their sporting achievements but emphasized how important it was to work hard to achieve your goals both in sport and life.

Year 9 had been the target group for the project and they took part in a theory workshop. Later in the day Charlotte and Sarah carried out a practical activity with Year 5 and 6.
