Falinge Park High School

Date published: 07 May 2013

We are delighted to welcome Tracing Steps Theatre Company into school as they work with Year 7 CALL Learners on PSHE related issues. The children will be producing a short piece of drama that will be shown to a class in a local school as part of a mutual showcase. Well done to all the learners involved.

Many thanks to the Year 7 'F' learners who attended our CALL Visit to Leeds City Museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park this week. An enjoyable day was had by all. A few learners brought their reply forms back to school too late to be able to go and missed the deadlines set. Please make sure that you read all letters issued carefully. We look forward to the Year 7 'K' Visit this week.

There is an opportunity for budding actors to be cast in Series 3 of the successful CBBC show, 'The 4 O'Clock Club' this week as the production company has been in touch with us. If you would like further information and the opportunity to attend an audition, please contact Mr De Courcey or Mr Mvula urgently.

Our new drama performance, 'Furi: A Viking Tale' has now been cast and we are delighted to start the rehearsal process. The number of actors who auditioned was so great and the talent pool so strong that we have had to 'double up' on some of our roles to give as many actors as possible an opportunity. Tickets for our show which takes place in mid-July at our school will go on sale in the next few weeks.

Donations of newspapers and plant pots for a forthcoming CALL project are currently being gratefully received. If you have any of these items at home and can spare them then they would be much appreciated. All donations should be given to the CEPA Office at breaktimes, lunchtimes or after school.

Drama Club continues to run every Wednesday in G12 from 2.45pm until 4pm and new members are always welcome.

Out CEPA Faculty visit to Edinburgh is now full and a meeting is organised for Monday 20th of May at 6pm for any parents or learners involved in the visit to outline the structure and requirements of the weekend. A letter will be issued to every child on the trip this week. For more details, see Mr De Courcey.

Learners have now been entered for their LCM Graded Music Exams this week and should now be in the process of practising their pieces. For more details or support, please contact Ms Williams.

Please could learners ensure that they don't exit and enter school through the Staff Car Park. Routes for children have been explained to all children in tutor time and assembly at the start of the school year and children who enter or exit via the car park put themselves and others at risk.
