Year 7 News - Attendance Challenge Big Breakfast - A new term, a new start: if your form didn’t win last term, then help them to win this term by being in school on time every day.

Mrs Murray and form 7.8 had the best weekly attendance last week with 99%. Pastoral Pupil of the week in year 7 was Lyon Simic, form 7.1. Congratulations to Cody Oddy, form 7.6, the winner of the weekly achievement points prize draw.

Thank you for your generous support for our year 7 Lenten Charity which is Francis House. If you have not yet returned your sponsor money, then please do. We can then announce the final total raised. To date we have raised £1000: a fantastic achievement from our year 7 pupils.

Year 7 parents evening will be on Wednesday 15 May, letters will shortly be sent home. This week’s theme was Mary the Mother of God and our Enterprise capability was a Can Do Approach. This half-term’s focus for Year 7 is Problem Solving.

Our Saint of the Week this week was St Catherine of Siena, Doctor of the Church and Patron of Europe, whose feast day was on 29 April. Born in Siena, Italy, in 1347, her love of God and for her neighbour led her to achieve so much in her short life – she nursed the sick; was a dedicated peace-maker and a prolific writer.

Perhaps her greatest achievement was to establish peace within the Church itself, resulting in the Pope returning to Rome. Students prayed for St Catherine of Siena’s intercession and were challenged to consider how they can follow her example today by using their faith and talents for the greater good, bringing harmony and unity to relationships.
