Historic Petrie Beam Engine back in steam

Date published: 28 April 2013

Following the 2012 May Bank Holiday Weekend Steam Fair, the members of the Ellenroad Steam Museum were inundated with requests from both enthusiasts and public for the event to be repeated.

Their wishes have been answered, on both Sunday and Monday, the Bank Holiday weekend, the Museum will be open and the famous engines, including the giant 3000 hp Ellenroad Cotton Mill Engine, will be running again under full steam.

The event will also bring back to life the historic Petrie Beam Engine which for the last sixteen months has been undergoing a complete overall.

Outdoor displays will include steam driven commercial vehicles, mobile steam engines, vintage cars and motor bikes from the Vintage Motor Cycle Club and the White Rose Redwings.

A team of dedicated engineers and volunteers will explain and help visitors find their way around. Refreshments and free car parking will be available.
