St Andrew's, Dearnley and Smithy Bridge

Date published: 24 April 2013

Our St George's Night, with the Wardle Anderson Brass Band, raised £500 for church funds so a big thank-you from St Andrew's to all who supported the event.

After the Sung Eucharist this coming Sunday, April 28, we will be holding our annual parochial church meeting, starting at 11.30am, which usually lasts less than an hour.

Copies of the annual report and financial statements were available in church last Sunday. We would ask anyone who took copies away to read and digest to please bring them back to church tomorrow because they will be required in the meeting.

We will be electing three new members to the PCC and considering, among other things, the annual report of the PCC and parish activities generally; annual financial statements; a report on the church fabrics; and changes in the electoral roll since the last annual meeting.

Our usual Sunday services this coming weekend are Eucharist at 8am and Sung Eucharist at 10am, followed at 1.30pm, after the annual meeting, by Holy Baptism.

The rota is: lay assistants, J Mills, J Townshend; readers, C Longhurst, C Longhurst; Intercessions, W Foote; sidespersons, V Lucy, P Webster; refreshments, Dennis, Doris, Judith.

Coming soon: Afternoon Tea on Saturday, May 11 (3pm), see Susan Knight for tickets; St Andrew's Got Talent on Saturday, May 18 (6pm), names and acts to Ada please.

Also on sale soon will be raffle tickets to win a special prize of one week's stay in a luxury holiday apartment in Torquay, with proceeds going to our Wider Welcome project, of which a lot more will be announced over the course of the next few weeks.

Anyone interested in the forthcoming Confirmation classes, which start in May, should speak to our vicar, the Rev Sharon Jones, as soon as they can.
