Recycle for Greater Manchester moving ‘Up and Forward’

Recycle for Greater Manchester is moving ‘Up and Forward’ with a new project funded by the European Funding stream Life +.

The recycling project is aimed at improving recycling rates in hard to reach communities and the first project of its kind to be funded in the UK. Up and Forward is a two year project to improve communications with hard to reach groups across Greater Manchester with the aim to waste less and recycle more.

Starting at the end of April until 2015 the project will work closely with communities to establish barriers to recycling and work to create innovative solutions. All nine Greater Manchester districts, are taking part in a minimum of three campaigns.

The project is split into 12 campaigns covering one of the four following themes:

• Households – focused on communities in disadvantaged areas
• Students and Short lets – focused on those areas with a high level of rental properties or student rental accommodation
• Faith and Culture – Focused on those areas with a strong religious or cultural background
• Apartments – focused on those areas with a high level of low rise or high rise apartments.

To mark the launch of this project, special web pages have been added to the Recycle for Greater Manchester website. 

The web pages will be regularly updated with case studies from the campaigns and downloadable communications materials, as well as information on how residents can get involved with the project.
