Ruby Wax to host hospitals annual staff awards

Date published: 22 April 2013

Comedian and TV personality Ruby Wax is to host The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s fourth annual staff awards event in June.

The Pennine Staff Awards 2013 consist of 12 categories which recognise the very best of patient care, skill and innovation among the 9,000 staff within the Trust’s four hospitals and community services.

The Trust runs North Manchester General Hospital, The Royal Oldham Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, and Rochdale Infirmary.

Staff across the Trust have the opportunity to nominate a colleague or team for an award who they believe have gone that extra mile and deserves recognition for their care, commitment and dedication.

This is the fourth year the Trust has held its annual staff awards which are fully paid for and sponsored by external companies and suppliers. The event is being supported by Vinci Construction UK Ltd, NG Bailey, Weightmans, G2 Speech, Phillips, CSC technology and business services, Mitie, G4S Healthcare and the Corporate Design Company.

Patients’ Choice Award

The Trust is again this year inviting the public to get involved and nominate a member of staff or team in a special award category called the ‘Pennine Patients’ Choice Award’.

The award gives the general public and members of the Trust the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ and publicly recognise the outstanding care and treatment given to either them or a relative or close friend. An independent judging panel will select the winner.

The public can nominate a member of staff, clinical team or ward by completing an online form on the Trust website homepage at www.pat.nhs.uk, by email at ft.membership@pat.nhs.uk or by calling 01706 517302.

All award nominations must be submitted to The Pennine Acute Trust by Friday 31 May.

Roger Pickering, Director of Human Resources at The Pennine Acute Trust, said: “Our annual staff awards aim to recognise the very best here at the Trust and are a key part of the organisation celebrating success of individuals and teams, and recognising best practice across all sites, departments and job roles.

"We know that there are many staff who go the extra mile, have done something extraordinary, perhaps come up with innovative ideas or simply make our Trust a more welcoming, caring and friendly place to work and be treated and cared for. This extra contribution is invaluable and it is right that we recognise and celebrate individuals and teams.

"We also want the public and our members to be involved in our awards and to nominate staff.”
