Wardle High School Band clinch first place

Wardle High School Band and Rochdale Borough Youth Band took part in the 2013 National Youth Championships on Sunday 14 April at the Royal College of Music in Manchester.
Some 42 youth brass bands from all over Britain competed in four sections "Beginners Band","Junior Band", "Intermediate" and "Championship".
Wardle High School Band, under Musical Director Lee Rigg, competing against 15 other bands clinched first place in the Intermediate section and Rochdale Borough Youth Band (Musical Director Stuart Lingard) were awarded third place in the same section.
A spokesman said: "A great day of music making by the youth of the country showed us the better side of our much maligned youth of today."
