People who travel in Greater Manchester are being given the chance to get in the driving seat and help shape and improve the services they use.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is launching a new Customer Panel and wants to hear from anyone who has an interest in improving the way they get around.
Whether people travel by car, bus, train, tram, bike or on foot – or find it difficult to get out and about – everyone is welcome.
Panel members will have the opportunity to work with TfGM on some ground-breaking transport improvements for Greater Manchester, from a new smart-ticketing system to plans for real-time passenger information.
The level of involvement is optional – it could be as simple as taking a quick survey on a transport service once a month, or being willing to attend a regular forum either online or in person.
That might involve visiting TfGM offices to test a new product or system before it goes live, or making a site visit to a new transport scheme.
TfGM’s Communications and Customer Services Director, Susan Wildman, said: “TfGM is here for one reason – to work with our partners to deliver an outstanding integrated transport network for our customers.
“We regularly consult and engage with the public and our key stakeholders, but our new Customer Panel will be a bit different.
“We want it to be made up of all sorts of people representing all sorts of interests. All you need is a desire to help improve the way you get from A to B in Greater Manchester. “Even if you don’t travel much, you could help us understand any barriers to you getting around.
“This is an exciting time to get involved, as we are delivering the biggest programme of transport improvements outside London.
“I encourage everyone to consider getting on-board with us to drive forward more improvements to travel across Greater Manchester.”
