Date published: 07 April 2013
Over 100 dogs and owners took part in the 'Doggy Dash For Life' this morning (Sunday 7 April) at Hollingworth Lake.
The event is a fun day to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
The dogs, wearing neckerchiefs showing the charities' colours and symbol, ran or walked around the lake, having paid an entry fee of £10, with dogs being sponsored.
Kath O'Donnell, of the Three Amigos FUNdraising Group, based in Littleborough, said: “We came up with the name as it's similar to "The Race For Life" slogan.
“Our dog 'Oscar', a Yorkshire Terrier, inspired the idea for his love of walks.
“My husband was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2004 and since then we have strived to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
“We have raised in excess of £33,000 for the charity"
The Three Amigos FUNdraising Group is a registered fundraising group for Cancer Research UK.
Sponsors of the 'Doggy Dash For Life' were Hird and Partners Veterinary Group, Walsden and Ad Manum Consultants.
