Raising money and having fun

Date published: 02 April 2013

The children in class 3 at St John with St Michael Primary School had a fun-filled afternoon.

They celebrated Miss Kenyon's birthday with an limbo competition and they made and sold cocktails to raise money for Christies' Mobile Chemo Therapy Unit.

The Class raised £44 in total with their cocktails. This has been added to the other three classes' amounts as a cake bake and a games afternoon were held and "Shrinkies" keyrings and necklaces were made to raise a fantastic £240 in total. All this will go to the charity.

Class 3 also held a toy sale and sold raffle tickets over six weeks to raise money to put towards their class trip in the summer - this raised a whopping £72.50.

Mrs Roberts, the class 2 teacher who has organised the Christie Enterprise weeks said: "I am overwhelmed by everyone's generosity.

"We all know somebody somewhere whose life has been affected in some way by the horrid illness of cancer.

"The children have been so enthusiastic in their enterprises and we look forward to presenting the cheque to The Christie Charity.

"A great big thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last few weeks, it has been greatly appreciated."
