Overnight closure of Drake Street for Metrolink work
Date published: 29 March 2013
Rochdale Metrolink
Work to install the overhead line equipment for Metrolink in Rochdale town centre will take place on Drake Street over the next few weeks.
Drake Street will be temporarily closed to traffic overnight – between Water Street and Oldham Road – from Tuesday 2 April. The closures will take place between 9pm and 6am and should last around two weeks.
Pedestrian access will be unaffected, however, at times some pedestrian crossing points will be restricted for safety reasons. Staff will be in place to ensure that pedestrians can safely access Drake Street.
The town centre Metrolink stop at Rochdale’s new interchange is due to open in 2014.
