A group of 30 staff from Hopwood Hall College are keeping fit whilst raising money for Springhill Hospice.
The brave runners, many of whom were new to running before joining the staff running club, are currently training for the Bupa Manchester 10K run which takes place on Sunday 26 May.
The running club gathers every Monday night and, as the date or the Manchester run looms closer, they’ve even been braving the somewhat artic conditions of the last few weeks.
Under the instruction of one of the College’s Uniformed Public Services & Sports lecturer Emma Whittle, the runners do a pre-run warm straight after work, then a run around the local area, followed by a mini circuit session.
In preparation for the 10K charity run, they are currently running 3.5 miles each week. Every two weeks Emma increases the distance by 0.5 miles, so that by the end of May they’ll reach their 10K target.
