Sarah Ward, 21, has been volunteering for Springhill Hospice for seven years. Sarah first started volunteering for Springhill Hospice when she took part in work experience whilst she was still at school and can be found helping out in one of the hospice’s six shops in and around the Rochdale area.
Sarah says: “When I was younger I was overweight and did not have a lot of confidence. Since volunteering for Springhill Hospice I have lost eight stones and dealing with customers and working with fellow volunteers has really boosted my confidence.
"I really enjoy working with people and hope to be able to make a career working at the hospice”.
Sarah Ford of the hospice, who nominated Sarah, said: “Sarah is a credit to the hospice. Nothing is too much trouble for her.”
Yvonne Hall, solicitor, at Forster Dean Rochdale visited the hospice to present Sarah with flowers from Funky Florals, chocolates and a bottle of sparkling wine.
Yvonne said: “Sarah Ward has clearly made a massive contribution in her role. She is a real Community Champion”.
