Help to clear severe snow drifts at Honresfeld
Date published: 26 March 2013
Members of the Mason’s, The Royd’s Lodge No 816 and their families came to help Honresfeld’s service users due to severe snow drifts on the driveway, restricting access for emergency services.
Snow was celared away from bulging doorways as much as possible, due to the wind this was extremely difficult. Snow drifts were completely covering vehicles and restricting access to our tenanted bungalow, which could not be seen.
The volunteers climbed over the snow to provide provisions to the people stuck in the bungalow. There was just too much snow for men on foot to shift, so a snow plough was hired to help as much possible, but due to the wind it wasn't possible to properly clear the driveway until Sunday.
A spokeswoman said: "We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped, Stephen Lawlor, Andrea Lawlor, Martin Gill, Debra Gill, Mason Gill, Colin Dunn, Michael Lawlor and Danny Bradley.
"Also like to thank Greg Troy, staff member at Honresfeld, who on Sunday cleared the fire exits again and made temporary steps out of the snow so the people at the bungalow has some access."
