Snow joke!
Date published: 24 March 2013
Homes and cars were snowed in and roads impassable after severe weather hit the borough this weekend.
Some roads blocked after snow on Friday and Saturday are still impassable, for example, Blackstone Edge Road, but many have been cleared.
Mrs Wilson, of Eafield Avenue, Milnrow said: "I have lived in Milnrow for 38 years and the last time I remember this much snow was when I was about eight."
For Monday, the Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" warning of ice.
It says existing snow will melt on roads and pavements by day, refreezing by night to give icy patches.
Also, snow blowing off fields in strong to gale force winds will continue to affect some roads, especially over high ground.
And finally... Rochdale Online is critical of the Council when it spends tax payers money inappropriately or doesn't do a job it should do well, credit though when credit is due, we congratulate the Council on the superb job it has done to clear main roads this weekend. To the gritting and ploughing teams - thank you.
