Littleborough neighbourhood area consultation

Date published: 21 March 2013

Littleborough Civic Trust have expressed their intention, either as a forum or in conjunction with other interested parties, to produce a neighbourhood plan for the Littleborough area, and have therefore formally applied for the designation of a neighbourhood area.

The Localism Act 2011 created a range of measures to provide more power to local communities. This included allowing local communities to guide future development within their local area through the production of a neighbourhood plan.

Neighbourhood plans provide the opportunity for local communities to play a greater role in determining the future of their area. A neighbourhood plan can outline policies on the development and allocate land for development within the designated neighbourhood area, and will propose the same or a higher level of growth as proposed in a local authority's Local Plan. It will also be used when assessing any planning application within the designated area.

The application for the designation of a neighbourhood area in Littleborough comprises the following:

  • A map identifying the proposed neighbourhood area
  • A statement explaining why the area is appropriate to be designated as a neighbourhood area
  • A statement explaining that the body making the area application (prospective neighbourhood forum) is capable of being a qualifying body.

In accordance with Regulation 6 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, Rochdale Borough Council is inviting representations on the proposed neighbourhood area application for its designation of a neighbourhood area. The consultation period ends at 5pm on 29 April 2013.

Representations should be made by completing the form onthe council website and posting or emailing it back to:
