Body found in town centre
Date published: 15 March 2013
Shortly before 6.30am today (Friday 15 March 2013), CCTV operators informed police of a parked car which had a door left ajar on King Street, Rochdale.
Officers attended and found the body of a man in his 30s nearby.
Mark Porter, a chef from the Flying Horse Pub arrived at work at 6:45 to see the man on the pavement. “I saw his feet because he was being covered up” said Mark. A bartender from the same pub added: “I live in the flats above where it was so it was below my window.”
Staff members from the Rainbow Centre on Fleece Street also saw similar activity this morning. “I just saw the street cordoned off but I haven’t really heard anything else” said one member of staff.
King Street was reopened at 8.30 this morning as police continue their enquiries.
Enquiries into his death are ongoing although there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
