Suspicious package found in Rochdale

Following reports of a suspicious package being found at The Point Retail Park in Rochdale town centre, a 100 metre cordon and traffic diversions have been put in place around the area as a precautionary measure.
Police were called shortly before 12.45pm today and are working with the fire service to safely recover the item.
Superintendent Chris Hankinson said: "We are at the early stages of this incident and are working closely with the fire service.
"Highly trained officers are currently implementing well-drilled procedures to safely recover this item."
