"Doggy Dash For Life"

Date published: 09 March 2013

The Three Amigos FUNdraising Group, based in Littleborough is organising its third charity event called "Doggy Dash For Life".

Kath O'Donnell said: “We came up with the name as it's similar to "The Race For Life" slogan.

Our first event in 2011 went really well and we raised £3,554.

“Our dog 'Oscar', a Yorkshire Terrier, inspired the idea for his love of walks.

"The dogs will be wearing a neckerchief for the "Doggy Dash" which clearly shows the charities colours and symbol.

“My husband was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2004 and since then we have strived to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

“We have raised in excess of £33,000 for the charity.

“We are very excited about our third "Doggy Dash For Life" as we have had positive feed back from people and looks like it's going to be well supported.

“We are looking at a possible 100 plus dogs taking part.

"Many people who have dogs enjoy taking their dogs for a walk on a Sunday morning so the love of doing this and raising money for Cancer Research UK is a bonus.

“This is a family event too, as cancer has no boundaries and affects people of all ages.

“It takes place at 11am on Sunday 7 April 2013 at Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough.

“Dogs and owners are going to run/walk around the lake, entry fee of £10 and dogs can get sponsorship.

“We are a registered fundraising group for Cancer Research UK and our sponsors of the "Doggy Dash For Life" are Hird and Partners Veterinary Group Walsden and Ad Manum Consultants.”
