Well done to Abdul Awal, Aamina Ali and Kadir Yilmaz who were the winners of the ‘I Love Art’ Competition this week. We were impressed with the standard of entries and the three winners each received a Portfolio Sketch Book, Art resources and a certificate. The closing date for the ‘I Love Dance’ Competition has also arrived this week and we will announce the winners next week.

Learners must remember to regularly check their Vivo Miles accounts as they may well have received points from teachers and various staff. Remember that the points can be spent or saved as you decide. Vivo Miles are given to all years and there are a variety of ways in which learners can receive rewards. For more details, see Mr. Ward or Ms. Sapsford.

Many thanks to Oldham College for their Theatre-in-Education work with our Year 9 and 10 BTEC Drama students this week as they explored the theme of child labour and exploitation. BTEC National students worked alongside our students through drama workshops to create a short series of improvisations after watching a showcase piece.

Monday sees us host our Halle Orchestra Concert here at FPHS as we bring together over 240 students from various primary schools and organisations to hold a special concert with Halle Orchestra members. Parking is at the rear of school and entrance to the event will be clearly marked by parking attendants. We expect the event to be a great success after an enormous amount of work has gone into its preparation.

Tickets for our ‘Dynamite’ Music Concert are now on sale at the CEPA Office at breaktimes and after school. The concert takes place on the 26 of March at the Norton Grange Hotel. For more details see Ms. Williams. The concert features music performances from groups, individuals and bands across the school years and features a wide range of musical styles.

World Book Day has been tremendous success this week with various activities throughout the week in tutor time and staff dressed as various literary characters. Highlights include the book sale in the library and the transformation of our dining hall into the Capitol from the ‘Hunger Games’ books with food specially made from the novels for children to try. Well done to everyone involved in the celebrations.

We hosted our ‘Trainers4Trainers’ Day this week as we raised money for charity. Learners were able to wear trainers to school in order to raise awareness for national charity. For more details, see our school website.
