Spotland residents give thumbs-up to environmental improvements

Date published: 06 March 2013

Tenants in Spotland have given their seal of approval to environmental improvements completed by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH).

RBH has spent £330,000 on a series of improvements to 108 properties in the Spotland area, including the provision of new driveways, new front and rear fencing, new gates and upgrades to garden paths.

These works form part of a multi-million pound environmental improvement programme promised to tenants when RBH took over ownership of the homes formerly owned by Rochdale Council.

The improvements were carried out in partnership with locally-based company Groundwork Landscapes, and over 84% of tenants who responded to the customer feedback survey declared themselves to be either "satisfied" or "extremely satisfied".

Katie Fletcher, RBH Environmental Surveyor, said: "We make sure that our tenants are involved in planning for investment in the local environment, and we're delighted that the improvements have met with such a positive reception in Spotland.

"Similar improvements in the Chesham area and in parts of Kirkholt are due to be completed this Spring."

Two lucky tenants who completed the feedback survey had particular cause for celebration as they won the prize draw for respondents, taking home £50 and £20 respectively in shopping vouchers. The draw was made by Andrew Johnson, a Tenant Representative on the RBH Environmental Steering Group, which helps to ensure that tenants have their say in the delivery of environmental improvements.
