Visit by Skylight Circus

Date published: 01 March 2013

Key Stage 1 at Hamer Community Primary School has been busy this week. On Monday the children were visited by the Skylight Circus as their entry point for their new IPC Topic on The Circus. Thank you to the parents who attended the performance in the afternoon which was very exciting. The children enjoyed learning new skills and everyone looked great in their circus outfits!

On Thursday, the children performed a fashion show as part of their assembly which all the parents enjoyed. This was their opportunity to parade the t-shirts they had made and work they had done in class last term.

Foundation Unit has been visited twice this week by Pets At Home. They brought in baby rabbits, guinea pigs and lizards for our children to observe and talk about. This concludes their IPC Topic on Animals which the children have enjoyed over the last few weeks.

The children in Upper Key Stage2 visited Tropical World in Leeds on Thursday as the exit point for their IPC Topic on Explorers and Adventurers. They went to look at various habitats which included a rainforest, a desert and a nocturnal habitat. This also gave them an opportunity to see the animals that these habitats support including butterflies, meerkats, fish, various birds and bats. The children had a fabulous day and enjoyed all the facilities.

Thank you to everyone who supported our fund raising efforts. The number of bags returned for the Bags2School collection was excellent. We will let you know next week how much money we raised once the ‘Grand Weigh In’ has occurred. We hope to do this again in June so start saving your old clothes, blankets, curtains and other items now to see if we can beat our initial efforts.

The Citizens of the week for week ending Friday 1 March are the School Council for helping to organise the “Bags to School” Thank you for your help.
