Take part in the ‘Red Tape Challenge’

Date published: 28 February 2013

As part of its ‘Red Tape Challenge’, the Government is inviting businesses and members of the public to identify those regulations that they would like to see changed or removed.

Already about a hundred housing and construction regulations are to be removed or amended following a review and the Government is now targeting planning regulations and the administration of the planning system with the aim of making the system more efficient and accessible.

This is an opportunity for those who experience our planning system to identify all those unnecessary rules, regulations and procedures that add to the burden.

It is not the Government’s intention to review planning policies and it says it will not make changes that will affect countryside and environmental protections which will continue to be safeguarded.

So, what planning regulations and procedures have you experienced that you consider to be unnecessary, too complex, hard to understand or simply unclear and that you would like to see removed or changed?

You have until 7 March to let the Government know by sending your views to: redtapechallenge@cabinet-office.gsi.gov.uk
