The UK has seen a huge increase in the amount of people who use the internet daily, according to figures released today.
In 2012, around 33 million adults browsed online every day, compared to only 16 million in 2006, the Office for National Statistics said.
The amount of people who never use the internet has also significantly reduced from 36% in 2006 to 16% in 2012.
Rochdale Online's readership base has continued to grow year-on-year; from the site's humble beginnings in June 1998 'unique site visitor' statistics now stands at a staggering 100,000+ per month.
Managing Director of Rochdale Online, Pauline Journeaux, said: "It comes as no surprise to Rochdale Online to see such numbers using the internet, it is a far more convenient way of accessing news and information than print and of course online shopping also offers convenience that is being enthusiastically embraced."
"Rochdale Online readership has risen again in the past year, as it has every year in the 15 years since the site began. That reassures us that we are offering our readers the service they want, but we are not complacent, we have a programme of continual improvement with some exciting developments in progress that will keep Rochdale Online the number one website for local news and information."
