Knighthood for former bishop
Date published: 21 February 2013
The Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Revd Nigel McCulloch
Bishop Nigel McCulloch, who recently retired, has become the first Bishop of Manchester to be honoured with a knighthood. The Queen invested him yesterday with his insignia as a Knight Commander of the Victorian Order.
The convention for clergy who receive knighthoods is that they do not use the prefix "sir", but add the initials KCVO after their name.
Bishop Nigel said that he was overwhelmed and humbled to receive such an honour. The Bishop and his wife Celia, who is also ordained, live now in Grange-over-Sands.
