Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 09 February 2013

Recently the children in Year 5 visited Wardle High and enjoyed a number of French workshops and a play performed in French. The children’s behaviour was exceptional and they all enjoyed a French afternoon of learning.

The Citizens of the week for week ending 8 February are Miss Birchenough’s Class for welcoming our new teacher Miss Birchenough and for helping her to settle in at Hamer

Thank you to Upper Key Stage 2 for the insight into their learning on ‘Explorers and Adventurers’ at the Assembly on Thursday 7 February, it was great to see so many people coming along to support the older children. Thank you also for such strong support at the Friday’s Celebration Assembly.

On Friday 8 February the children enjoyed learning alongside our friends from Springside during our joint History Curriculum Day. The units in school all chose different periods from history with their Springside partner classes and learnt all about the life, times and events within this period. These included learning about the Ancient Egyptians, The Tudors, World War 2 and pre historic times.

Just a reminder that Year 3 and 4’s ‘Fashion Show’ will take place next Tuesday 12 February at 2.15pm. parents and families are welcome, refreshments will be on offer afterwards!

Thank you for driving carefully and slowly during our snowy and icy weather this week. Please ensure that disabled parking spaces are reserved for blue badge holders only despite the weather. In addition, you can not turn right from Calder Street down the main exit road from school, you need to go left into the car park, then round and out. There is a no right turn sign clearly displayed and ignoring this is both dangerous and irresponsible. Please ensure that you are making decisions on the school grounds that keep our entire school community safe .

The school will finish next Friday 15 February at 3.15pm for the half term break. School will re-open on Monday 25 February at 8.50am.
