St Joseph’s Penny
We have received collection boxes from Salford Diocese on behalf of CARITAS. We will support St Joseph’s Penny over Lent to assist CARITAS in various projects throughout the country. Boxes will be sent home with children to collect any money that you can donate and return to the school.

Drumming workshop – Monday 11 February
Children will have the opportunity to take part in a drumming workshop given by Jeff Rich the ex-Status Quo drummer in the school on Monday 11 February.

Jeff now runs drumming master classes to schools throughout the UK where children have the chance to play on a full size drum kit and various percussion instruments.

Ash Wednesday – 13 February
There will be a distribution of ashes service on Wednesday to mark the beginning of Lent. Father Chris will distribute ashes to Catholic and Christian children during the mass.

Road Safety lessons for classes 3 and 5 have been postponed and will now take place on Tuesday 26 February.

Guide Dogs for the Blind visit – 26 February
Guide dog puppy Robbie will visit the school on Tuesday 26 February with his trainer Barbara Milhench. Mrs Milhench will give a presentation to children during assembly about the work of the Guide Dog Organisation and the important work the dogs do to change a blind or partially sighted person’s life forever.

After assembly children will have the opportunity to ask questions about Robbie and his future role as a guide dog.

Where is Wally?
This week Wally was in Bulgaria.

Certificate awards
Awards went to Class 6 for highest attendance.

Golden book awards
The Golden Book awards are for children have tried their best in all areas with politeness and respect.

Other business
Medical and other appointments

Children cannot leave school for appointments unless proof of appointment is shown in advance.

Leave during term time
Leave will not be authorised for holidays/absences taken out of the normal school holidays.

Dinner money:
Please remember that dinner money must be paid on a weekly basis. If two weeks have passed without payment you may be asked to provide packed lunches.

Breakfast club:
A small charge of £1.25 per week must be paid for each child attending breakfast club. Breakfast club closes at 8.25 and children must attend before that time.

After school club:
A small charge of £1 per week must be paid for each child attending after school club. After school club runs from Monday to Thursday.
