The man who died after a collision on the M60 motorway has been named.

Christopher Lowe, 25, who was from the Heaton Moor area of Stockport, was driving a Mercedes Sprinter van which collided with the central barrier on the anti-clockwise M60 between junctions 19 and 20, in Blackley, at about 6.10am on Tuesday 5 February 2013.

Officers attended and found the van on its side. Christopher was taken to hospital where he sadly died later.

No other cars were involved.

Officers from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood said: "Our thoughts are with Christopher Lowe⿿s family, who have understandably been left devastated following his death.

"We have officers supporting them as best we can at this difficult time and are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full facts around what happened.

"If anyone witnessed the collision or has any information that may assist our investigation, please contact officers at the investigation unit directly on 0161 856 4741 or 4745."
