Falinge Park High School

This week we launch our new ‘Arts Takeaway’ kits for interested learners in Years 7 and 8. If you think you might be bored this February half-term or at a loose end, then why not register your interest with the CEPA Faculty staff and you may receive a ‘Takeaway’ kit featuring fun arts activities and the chance to photo blog your involvement. For more details, see Mr De Courcey.

Our CEPA Faculty visit to Brungerley Park Sculpture Trail, Clitheroe Castle and Bowland Wild Animal Park is now full. Many thanks to all the learners who handed in their letters so promptly. For more details, please visit our school website.

Letters for our annual CEPA visit to Leeds City Museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park have now been issued to all Year 7 CALL learners. The visit takes place on two days; 7 May 2013 for the ‘F’ Cohort learners and 14 May 2013 for the ‘K’ Cohort learners. We hope that as many learners in year 7 can attend as possible but the cu-out date for reply forms is the Easter holidays. This gives you plenty of time to get your forms into your CALL teacher or Mr Morley. For more details, please see Mr De Courcey or the CALL staff. If you would like to see the two venues in advance then you can see them at www.leeds.gov.uk/citymuseum or www.ysp.co.uk.

CALL Learners are being given the opportunity to win two limited edition prints by the artist Sara Porter. The two pieces of artwork are based on the temporary exhibition titled ‘Natural Beauty’ which takes a new look at wildlife and endangered species. Learners can win the two pieces by completing the visit project booklets successfully when they attend our Leeds City Museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park visit. For more details, visit our school website.

Many thanks to learners, friends and families who came along to our Family Quiz Night this week. Mr Smith hosted the event and took us through a series of gruelling rounds. Congratulations to the three winning teams!

There are still two competitions available for learners to enter over the next few weeks; the ‘I Love Dance’ and ‘I Love Art’ competition entry forms can be downloaded from our school website or paper copies are available from the learner information stand outside the CEPA Office.

Many thanks to Ms Wystawnoha who ran our ‘Project Hugo’ INSET this week at Healey Primary School. Details regarding our showcase event at Carnforth Station on the 23 of March were discussed and further creative ideas shared.

This week saw us celebrate ‘Safer Internet Week’ and learners from across the school looked at a range of resources and activities around responsible and careful internet use. Many thanks to Mrs Smith and the I.T. team for leading communities through this important topic. Visit the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) thinkuknow website, for help and advice in ensuring all our children and teenagers are kept safe when online.
