Man dies following M60 collision

Date published: 05 February 2013

The man who was injured in a collision on the M60 has died.

Shortly after 6.10am on Tuesday 5 February 2013, police were called to the M60 anti-clockwise between junction 20 and 19 following reports of a collision.

Officers attended and found that a van had been involved in a serious accident and was on its side.

No other cars were involved.

Efforts were made to get the man safely out. He was taken to hospital where was sadly died later.

As police enquiries continue, the two lanes remain closed on the anti-clockwise M60 between junctions 20 and 19.

This closure is likely to remain in place for at least another hour.

A combination of the collision and the weather mean that there is now significant congestion throughout the northern and eastern sections of the M60 motorway, on both sides.

Many motorists have been caught up in the congestion and delays are expected throughout the morning.

While the M60 is driveable, officers advise motorists to take extra care.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call police on 0161 856 4741.
