Rochdale Sixth Form College comes top of the class

Date published: 04 February 2013

Rochdale Sixth Form College has exceeded the national average at A Level performance, in an official league table released by The Department for Education last week.

In the national league table, based on the College’s first set of A Level Results last summer, 84% of students achieved three or more A Levels, compared to an average of 56% nationally.

The College is now recognised as an A Level institution in the top 5 per cent nationally, in value added terms.

Julian Appleyard, Principal at Rochdale Sixth Form College comments: “Historically, the standard of A Level education in Rochdale has been lacking, but we hope these results go to show that Rochdale Sixth Form College offers a high quality educational institution, right on the doorstep, which has a proven track record of achieving excellent A Level results.

“2012 saw our first set of A Level results, and our students performed brilliantly,  achieving an overall pass rate of 99 per cent. I’m glad to see the hard work has paid off, with the College featuring so prominently in this year’s league tables. This has really set the bar for future years, and we hope this is the first of many positive league table results to come.”
