The Works store is to close
Date published: 02 February 2013
The Works store in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre is to close its doors for good on 24 March.
The Works stocks books, toys, gifts, stationery and arts & crafts at discount prices and has 232 stores nationally.
The Rochdale store is closing as it is not commercially viable.
A spokeperson for The Works said: "The Works has always pursued a strategy of prudent store estate management. As part of this strategy and to drive continued growth, we will open more new branches this year, but will also take the reluctant decision to close stores when they are not commercially viable.
"In 2013, we will expand our store estate overall as well as further developing our online presence.
"We don’t currently have plans to close any other stores and the vast majority of our stores continue to perform well."
