Holocaust Survivor visits St Cuthbert's

Date published: 30 January 2013

We were very privileged to be joined by Mr Harry Bibring, a Holocaust Survivor, on Monday. Mr Bibring spent two hours with our Year 9 students, sharing his experience as a Jewish child during World War II. Mr Bibring then very kindly presented to members of the local community in the evening, when we also raised over £200 for Amnesty International.

Year groups experienced an E-Safety assembly this week. There is a very helpful resource called ‘Think You Know..?’ for parents and youngsters, which can be found on the CEOP website. We need the support of ALL parents and carers with E-Safety please. We need our youngsters to be self-aware when using social media and we need them to understand how to Report Abuse – see the CEOP website. Thank you.

External exams and internal mock exams have taken place again this week. Our school radio station – Amplify – is now in full swing. Pupils can access the station through our school website and can also listen during lunches and break times in year centres. If anyone else would like to be more involved with Amplify, please see Mrs Moore.

This week’s theme was Relationships/Parables and our Enterprise capability was CREATIVITY. This half-term’s focus for Year 7 is INDEPENDENT LEARNING.
