Amazing achievement for Hollingworth rowers

Hollingworth School took all 40 of their school rowing team to the Manchester Schools Indoor Rowing Competition, having won all 10 relay races at the Rochdale qualifying event in December.
Each year team had a male and female team consisting of 4 pupils.
Individual medalists at the County event were:
Gold Medals – Grace Lewis Yr7, Elise Greenhalgh Yr8, Jordan Cella Yr10, Holly Coburn Yr10, Michael Rourke Yr11.
Silver medalists – Adam Sweeney Yr10, Sophie Ellis Yr11
Bronze Medalists – Ellie Beale Yr8
Relay medalists – Each team of 4 pupils had to row 2012 metres as fast as possible combining effective changeovers.
Gold medalists – Yr 7 Girls team, Yr 8 Girls team, Year 10 Girls team, Year 11 Girls team, Year 11 boys team
Silver medalists – Yr 8 Boys team, Year 10 Boys team
Bronze medalists – Yr 7 Boys team, Year 9 Girls team
Hollingworth have entered the competition every year and regularly gained success at the championships. It was the second year that we have had the pleasure of taking all 40 team members.
Mrs Warriner, Teacher of PE said: “An amazing achievement for the Hollingworth rowers, their hard work in PE lessons and during the extra curricular training sessions has well and truly paid off. The level of dedication and continued enthusiasm to beat their individual records each week was great to see. The pupils had a great day and I was so proud of their acheievements”.
Grace Lewis our Yr 7 rower also competed at the English indoor rowing championships on Sunday 27 January at the Manchester Velodrome and was awarded with the Silver Medal. An amazing achievement with her gaining her new personal best time.
