Man with serious head injuries
Date published: 24 January 2013
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man fell down stairs in a pub in Rochdale, causing serious injuries.
At around 2.20am on Thursday 27 December 2012, the 60-year-old man was seen falling down the stairs that lead to nearby toilets of Yates' Wine Lodge, Fleece Street.
He sustained serious head injuries.
A short time later, there was an altercation between a man and door staff before he was ejected.
Detective Constable Russ Clarke from Rochdale CID said: "We believe the man accidentally fell down the stairs and sustained his injuries, however, I would still ask for witnesses to come forward. He currently remains in hospital in an induced coma.
"I would also ask anyone who witnessed a male being ejected from the premises via a fire exit door to come forward. At this time I am trying to piece together the full circumstances of these two incidents".
Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 4637 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
