Redwood School

Date published: 22 January 2013

The decision to cancel the transportation for Redwood’s students on Monday 21 January was out of our control and made by the transport department at 7.20am The school immediately put into action our procedures for notifying parent/ carers.

However, it appears a certain amount of misinformation was inappropriately communicated to parents. Redwood remained opened and fully staffed, many parent/ carers chose to contact school and made their own choice as to whether their child attended. We can only apologise if you were under the wrong impression, the decision to close Redwood lies with the Headteacher who endeavours to ensure that Redwood remains open at all times. Should another situation like Monday arise it is recommended that parent/ carers look to Redwood for instructions. These are via: Text messaging service, The website, Twitter and Facebook.

There have been fabulous activities taking place – a real buzz around the school. We had a team of consultants in school on Tuesday meeting pupils and staff and taking part in a variety of lessons in each department and key stage 3 assembly. The feedback was very positive indeed!

The Retail group have made cheese and onion and meat and potato pasties. The group are identifying retail outlets and comparing their product prices. Last week the group decided on a product they wanted to make and sell within 6th Form. They went round and took orders from staff, bought ingredients and this week they made and sold over 60 pasties.

Saj and Carol’s Baking groups have been making flapjacks this week. The group worked in pairs weighing, stirring, baking, and also washing up and putting away. The sessions are always lots of fun. Well done to you all. The end results looked and tasted delicious.
