Ambassadors Award
We were assessed yesterday and received our 7th Green Flag Award. We will find out in April/May if we have retained Ambassador status.

RSPB
Yesterday we had an Outreach Officer in to work with Year 1 and Year 4, making bird feeders and learning to identify different species of birds. Next Wednesday we will be taking part in the Big School Bird Watch. 

Dinner Money
Dinners are now £1.85 per day - £9.25 per week which please send in an envelope with your child’s name and class on.
Please note that dinner money MUST be paid at the beginning of the week or daily.
Next week we will be on Week 2 menu.

PCC Meeting
Paige Phillips-Brady and Charlie Aspinall, two of our Year 6 eco-committee, are going to St. Martin’s Church to talk to them about supporting the church to become an eco-church.

Staff Changes
Mrs. Shaw, one of our Year 5 teachers will be leaving us at half term to take up a post as Deputy Head at a school in Todmorden. We would like to wish her all the best in her new job and for the future.

Year 4 Trip
On Tuesday Year 4 are going on a trip to Touchstones Museum as part of their topic on the Romans.

Castleton Children’s Centre
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here on Wednesday mornings from 9.30am-10.45am but if you come to drop older children off at school, there will be toys set up in our community room for the children to play with until the hall is available. Please note the change of time.

Change of Date
Our parents evening will now be on 12 February at 2.30-5.30pm and not 5 March.

Music Lessons
We have places for brass and clarinet lessons. Please see Mrs. Fernandes in the office if your child is interested in starting lessons.

Story Sacs - Reception
Parents of Reception children can come to school at 2.30pm on a Tuesday afternoon and go down to the Library area together with their child. You can then pick a Story Sac with your child to take home and read with them. They need to be back in school by the Friday morning ready for the following week.

Class Assemblies
This year we are inviting you to share your child’s class assembly. Assemblies will take approx 15mins. Dates for this half term:
Tuesday 22nd January 1.15pm – RD
Tuesday 29th January 9.15am – 3P
Tuesday 5th February 9.15am – 4P
Tuesday 12th February 9.15am – 3L
Tuesday 12th February 1.15pm – RP

Let’s Get Men Cooking
We have received some funding from the Big Lottery Fund to start a new cookery club which involves men cooking with their child/children. The club will be starting in the next few months and if you are interested, please give your name into the school office. At present, we are unsure as to days and times the club will be running but will have further information as soon as possible.

Matthew Moss High School
Next Wednesday some of our pupils are going to Matthew Moss to make bath bombs and lip balms.

Music Lessons
Fees for this half term are now due - £14.25. Please pay these and any outstanding fees into school as soon as possible in order to continue with lessons. Thank you.
