Healey Foundation Primary School

Date published: 16 January 2013

The school WILL NOT close due to snow. If you are still unsure just make sure you are receiving the text updates, that we have the correct mobile number for you and you will receive a text in the VERY unlikely event of exceptional school closure for any reason. This is only likely to be if adverse weather conditions cause power failure or boiler failure. Just make sure your child is equipped for the weather: spare socks and gloves are vital, a warm coat and wellington boots. The children who are prepared for the snow are encouraged to play out and have fun.

Music lessons will start again next week. Please make sure that your child has their instrument in school on Thursday – and then take it home again so they can practise.

DVDs of the Christmas productions are now available. They are £3 for 1 and £5 for two. We have Reception “Away in a Manger”, Year 1 and 2 “Census Sums” and Year 5 and 6 “Rock Around Christmas”. The DVDs are in the School Office. Next week Year 5 are starting Community Kids next week where members of the community services come and work with the children.

There is a Football Tournament on Monday after school at the Soccer Factory in Castleton, letters have been sent out with details for the children involved.

The Netball Practice next week is moving forward one day from Wednesday to Tuesday (22nd Jan) due to staff training. There is then a match on Thursday (24th) at Healey against St Vincents, weather permitting.

The PTA are busy planning the valentine’s Disco for 14 February, meetings are held on the first Monday of every month, please come along and join in.

Well done the children who were presented with the first Achievement Award of 2013:

Reception Emily Ward
Year 1 Daisy Watson
Year 2 Olivia Ellison
Year 3 Paul Marsden
Year 4 Troy Sandilands
Year 5 Aimee Hodson
Year 6 Jasmin Hill-Metcalfe

Attendance was excellent for this first week back – the whole school was almost 98% and best class Year 2. Hopefully all the sicky bugs have gone now and we can look forward to super attendance for this very short term up to Easter.
