Tonight North West England
Showers of rain, sleet and snow during the evening, then becoming dry and clear across many areas later with a hard frost and a risk of icy stretches.

Amber Warning for Snow for North East England
A band of sleet and snow is expected to move eastwards across the region during Monday morning and early afternoon, clearing from the west through the afternoon, but possibly becoming slow moving over North Sea coastal counties during the evening. Snowfalls of 2-5 cm at low levels and as much as 10 cm above 150 metres are likely to occur, mostly within a 3 to 4 hour period.

Yellow warning for snow for England
An area of sleet and snow will come eastwards across England during the early morning, probably becoming light and patchy later in the morning as it slows down over eastern areas.

However, later in the day it is expected to intensify again, at the same time turning back to rain in places.

Through the day there is the risk of 5 cm accumulations in places, and more than that above 200 m. However, there is greater than average uncertainty at this range, especially in the extent to which snow affects southern counties, and it is quite possible that the Alert will be upgraded to an amber Warning if confidence increases.

The public are advised to monitor the forecast and to be aware of the risk of disruption to travel.
