Police hunting getaway car used in high-value burglary

Date published: 10 January 2013

Police are appealing for the public's help to trace the movements of a getaway car used in a high-value burglary in Rochdale.

At about 2pm on 8 January 2013, a stolen BMW 335 M Sport in black bearing the false registration VT61OTZ parked up on Bingley Road, Rochdale.

The offenders then forced their way in through the front door of a house on Milnrow Road.

They stole a large amount of cash and valuable jewellery before driving off down Milnrow Road, onto Oldham Road and then Durham Street, before abandoning the car on St Alban's Street.

One man is described as being between 18 and 20 years old, of slim to medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing a grey jacket and was with three other men aged between 18 and 20.

PC Sallie Altoft, of the Volume Crime Team, said: "The offenders have stolen a large amount of cash and valuable jewellery so it would appear they knew where and when to strike.

"What we want to know is how they knew this so if anyone has any information that can help or has overheard someone talking about this please get in touch.

"I also want to hear from anyone who saw the car involved - a BMW 335 M Sport in black bearing the false registration VT61OTZ - being driven or stored beforehand or anyone who saw it being abandoned or the offenders running away."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
