Recycle for Greater Manchester’s Community Waste Fund (CWF) provides funding for projects that will help to reduce the amount of waste created in Greater Manchester.
Support will be given to community groups, charities and not for profit organisations who would like to start a project that will have a positive impact on Greater Manchester’s recycling rate and help reach the goal of zero waste to landfill.
So far we have supported 22 community waste projects, all with various ideas; from residents groups running swap shop events to Social Housing Landlords working in partnership with Community Furniture projects to provide affordable furniture to people on a low income.
Councillor Neil Swannick, Chairman of Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority said: “The Community Waste Fund is now very well established and is a great support for community groups who want to put an innovative idea to reduce waste or recycle into practice. It is only with the help of residents that we can reach our ambition of zero waste to landfill, where everything we throw out becomes a resource.”
If you think your project will help Recycle for Greater Manchester increase the recycling and composting rate to 50% by 2015 and continue to work towards zero waste to landfill, then please get in touch. Make 2013 the year of the Community Waste Fund. Your group could make a difference!
The fund is now open until the 15 February for applications.
