Shops facing £5,000 fine for under age alcohol sales
Date published: 21 December 2012
Two shops that sold alcohol to under age youngsters are under investigation and could be fined up to £5,000.
Public protection officers conduct test purchase exercises throughout the year and in the run up to Christmas targeted premises which had previously sold to under age volunteers or which the service had received complaints about.
20 retailers across the borough have been targeted in recent weeks, with two of the shops making the sale to 14 and 15 year-old volunteers.
